Accessibility Matters.

Our Hope is to be thoughtful and challenge limitations where and as possible in the production of the Drag & Spirituality Summit.

We have a committee specifically dedicated to accessibility and access.

We ask accessibility needs wherever and as much as possible to be better with accessibility for all parties involved.

We have many limitations and will not be able to meet the needs adequately to all who want to be a part of the summit but we are committed to making a intentional effort to do this better with each summit and activity.

We will do our best to identify our limitations, speak to them and work to learn how to address them.

We are organized by volunteers and rely on the contributions from community stakeholders which informs our capacity to produce an accessible summit.

In an attempt to increase accessibility we scholarship all registration when requested and offer tiered prices, no one will be turned away at the door do to inability to pay.

In an attempt to increase accessibility for performers we offer honorariums for all performers, panelists, speakers, and other contributors to the production of the summit.

In an attempt to increase accessibility we LiVEStream the Summit wherever possible on YouTube which is free and fairly easy access during and after the summit.

Wherever you see this image click on it and it will take you to the LiVEStream.

TIP: Before the event Subscribe to Channel and Click the notification on the video Thumbnail and it will notify you when the LiVEStream begins on the day of the activity.

In an attempt to increase accessibility we also upload all audio to the Drag & Spirituality Podcast.

In an attempt to increase accessibility we change our location each year. First year was in Chicago, this year is San Francisco and next year we intend to be in Toronto, ON Canada. Exploring Boston or Washington DC for 2025 but open to any suggestions and future collaborations that are in alignment with our vision of the summit.

In an attempt to create more comfortable for more people wherever possible. This include physical location as in host city, neighborhoods and dwelling.

In an attempt to be more welcoming, first day of summit does not take place in a traditionally spiritual location ie church.

In an attempt to increase accessibility we offer ASL Interpreters wherever possible.

  • Our biggest limitation for this, is funding and interpreters available

As of 10/1/2023 we will be providing ASL at the Keynotes on Saturday and Sunday.

In an attempt to increase accessibility we make every effort to secure locations that have wheelchair accessibility. You will see this wherever it is true.

In an attempt to increase accessibility where there is no wheelchair accessibility, we will include number of steps and other limitations.

Our LiVESTREAM is hosted by Streamyard, below is their accessibility statement along with how to access Closed Captions and other accessibility needs.

StreamYard Accessibility Statement

We believe in a future where all people can come together through live streaming.

We are committed to ensuring that StreamYard works for everyone, including those using assistive technologies like screen readers, magnification, and captions. We have already taken significant steps on our path to becoming WCAG compliant, and we are committed to becoming fully compliant in the future.

Screen Readers

StreamYard is one of the only live streaming tools that is fully integrated with VoiceOver, so you can command it with your voice. VoiceOver enables users with visual disabilities to control their computer using a rich set of keyboard commands and gestures. Every action you take, from creating a broadcast, to adding a guest, to going live is integrated with VoiceOver.

Captions
We don't have captions built in on StreamYard (yet), but many of the destinations you stream to will add auto-captions. Captions will need to be enabled for each platform your viewers are watching you from.

Click here to enable captions on Facebook.
Click
here to enable captions on Youtube.
Click
here to enable captions on LinkedIn.

In addition to enabling captions on the destinations you stream to, your viewers can also enable live captions for Chrome Browser. These captions will work no matter what destination you are streaming to, as long as your viewers are using Chrome.

Is StreamYard WCAG AA Compliant?

Not at this time, but we are actively working towards being WCAG AA compliant (an industry standard on web accessibility).

Stay tuned for more updates on StreamYard's accessibility, and please reach out to contact@streamyard.com with any questions!
